WATER, MISTER, COWBOY TUB and POOL

MAKE THE MOST OF IT

Green Acres Ranch water comes from over 320 feet below, drawn up from the deep desert by our little hard-working well pump. We try to get the most out of our precious water. Please water plants with any good water that might otherwise be wasted. For instance, if you rinse off something with a hose, do it where plants can enjoy the benefits as well!

SWIMMING POOL PARTNER

We do not have a swimming pool. However, Joshua Tree Inn usually allows day use (from 3pm to 8pm) of their beautiful pool for $10 per person per day. They require a signed waiver. Their policy is always subject to change. Please call ahead at 760-366-1188. The Inn is a 6-minute drive, at 61259 29 Palms Highway. We are also talking with Spin & Margie's just across the dirt road to allow our guests to use their pool (for a fee) starting in Spring 2019.

COWBOY TUB

Nothing is quite as relaxing as a nice soak in the “cowboy tub", so kick off your boots, and drop into a cool repurposed horse water trough! Because our well water is precious: If you use the tub, you have entered into a PINKY PROMISE with us to bucket or drain (via hose) the water to thirsty plants afterwards.

1. Sweep/scoop out any errant creosote leaves and seed pods

2. Grab a nearby hose and fill the tub 3/4 with water (make sure the drain valve is turned closed)

3. Enjoy your nice, cool soak.

4. When you‛re done, grab a bucket and distribute the water to as many thirsty plants as you can find, especially trees.

If you want the water to be warm (it will never really get hot), let the sun heat it for several hours.

COBRA MISTER

There should be a freestanding "cobra mister" in the back area. Before attaching a hose, wash all of the sand out of the connection. Once the hose is connected, turn on the faucet just enough to create a decent spray, and enjoy. If the nozzle is plugged (water just drips), scrape the nozzle hole with a stiff brush , finger nail, or other rough material to loosen the hard water deposits. If that fails, there may be a piece of sand inside the nozzle. Unscrew and blow it out.

OUTDOOR SHOWER

The outdoor shower behind your cabin is cold water only.

1. Turn on the connected hose at the faucet, then open up the shower valve (if no water comes out of the shower head) and let the hose water run for 20 seconds (the water in the hose may be super-heated from the sun).

2. Enjoy a nice brisk shower.

3. Turn the water off at the hose faucet and disconnect the hose from the shower. This allows the shower plumbing fully drain. Freezing overnight temps can burst the pipes if water is left in them.

DRINKABILITY

Our water is delicious! And we have tested it for pH, alkinity, chlorine, hardness, iron, copper, nitrates, and nitrites.

It grades perfect or nearly perfect. But if you want to play it safe, stick to bottled water.
